Affordable. Not Cheap. – Optique Optometrists

Affordable. Not Cheap.

by Leon Van Vuuren on October 01, 2022

that's one way of an introduction to Optique.

Steve Jobs said it well that he wanted to create products he could sell with pride to his friends and family. For us, that rings true, not only in the quality of our products but also in the prices we present.

We strive to be a proudly South African company that you can trust with your eye care. I know it sounds cheesy, but we mean it. You shouldn’t worry that we will give you a pair of glasses if you don’t really need them. Nor should you be scared about the final quotation which you have no control over, as you know very little about making choices about lenses, coatings, tints, lens thickness and designs.

we have removed the ability to upsell you

If you do decide to upgrade to any of our extras, it’s totally on you and what you want.

It is what it is…an extra. A nice to have.

Our main price of R2750 brings you the promise of getting a frame you like, and the lenses you need. Not what you can afford.

You should feel proud when you see someone with an Optique frame, with the signature triangle on the side temple. This represents hard-working South Africans making responsible consumerism choices and supporting one another.

This means you value quality over cheap or even luxury brands.

This is a radical approach to eye care, and to our knowledge, a world first as we believe in equality in access to eye care. The South African landscape for health care and eye care is challenging, and so many people stay away until it is too late due to poor service delivery in the public sector or cost in the private sector.

We aim to find a middle ground and provide access to a much more significant portion of South Africans. We know we can't be everything to everybody (yet). But we can try and do the most with the skill we have been entrusted with and help as many people as possible.
