Frequently asked questions.

Does Optique do a credit check?

No, we don’t. We do, however need a confirmation of your income by you providing us with a bank statement or pay slip. Somebody else may be responsible for your account, provided they accompany you during the exam

Can Optique replace the lenses in my own frame?

Yes of course! Provided that it is still in a good condition, which the optometrists will be able to advise you on. (You will save R750 on our prices by using your own frame).

If I pay off my glasses, when do I get them?

Excellent question!

Once you have paid the R499 deposit (which includes the R99 consultation fee) we will place the order for your lenses. You will then receive your glasses within 7-10 working days (even if the rest of the payments have to go off via a debit order) .

Do I need to make an appointment?

Not necessarily, we do take walk in patients. It is definitely better to make an appointment to ensure that we do not waste your time waiting for an opening.

Which services does Optique offer?

We do comprehensive eye tests which includes a photo of the inside of your eye, spectacles, sunglasses, contact lenses, repairs, and drivers license screening certificates.

Do you have any promotions for pensioners?

No, we do not because on average, our prices are at least 30% lower for everybody by sourcing our own frames, and working exclusively with the global leading suppliers.

Are there any hidden costs?

No hidden costs – our prices include the eye test, frame, lenses (with anti-reflective coating) and VAT.

Do you sell any branded frames?

No, we have selection of at least over 200 frames to choose from. Each hand selected by us, and the range is updated every 6 months to the latest trends. This way we can ensure quality, price and variety.
